2024年は辰年である。辰のように天に向かう年。

昨年の8月22日に我が家の住所で登記した創薬ベンチャー、GALTS Pharma（ガルツ　ファルマ）は、Good for Alport Syndrome（アルポート患者に幸あれ）という意味と、Good for All Three Sides （三方良し）という意味を持つ。これまで、十数年の慢性腎臓病のプロジェクトから見出されてきた腎臓病治療薬の有力な候補化合物の、臨床における有効性までを確認するためのスタートアップ企業である。CEO、CSO、CLO、CFOや顧問弁理士などが、最短期間で患者に手元に薬を届けるというビジョンのもとに集まった。GLPプレクリニカルやPhase I, IIなどを実施していくための資金調達のための箱としてのベンチャーである。本年はいよいよ、慢性腎臓病の病態を忠実に反映するアルポート症候群のモデルマウスにおける基礎研究成果を公開する。また、同じビジョン「最短期間で患者に手元に薬を届ける」を有する仲間の支援を集める年にもなる。リスクが無い挑戦は無い。アカデミアにて創薬研究に関わってきた研究者として使命と覚悟で挑戦していく。

GALTS Pharma, a drug discovery venture registered on last August 22, means Good for Alport Syndrome and Good for All Three Sides. The CEO (Hirofumi Kai), CSO, CLO, CFO and patent attorneys have come together with the vision of getting the candidate drug into the hands of patients in the shortest possible time. The venture is a fundraising box for the implementation of GLP pre-clinical, Phase I, II. This year, we will finally publish the pharmacological results of our basic research in a mouse model of Alport syndrome, which faithfully reflects the pathophysiology of chronic kidney disease. It will also be the year to gather support from our colleagues who have the same vision: to bring medicines to patients in the shortest possible time. There is no challenge without risk. As a researcher who has been involved in drug discovery research in academia, I will take on this challenge with mission and determination.
